How To Bleach Knots on Your Lace Wigs Improve the Appearance of the Hairline

Bleaching knots on lace wigs can be an effective way to improve the appearance of the hairline. For some, bleaching knots is not exactly a delightful task. It can be a gamble especially if you are inexperienced. But the bottom line is, bleached knots are a must. Unless you don’t mind those black dots on your forehead. We thought that it was necessary to give you a few tips on how to successfully bleach your knots. Whether you are bleaching a lace closure, lace frontal, full lace wig or lace wig, we’re sure that you will find these tips useful.

1. Where Do The Knots Come From?

In order to make lace wigs, the hair is ventilated strand by strand with a tiny needle on lace. The hair strand stays securely on the lace through a knot. The visible knots look like tiny seeds. Some people don’t mind the knots and many can’t stand them. There are many different ways to achieving a flawless lace wig and many experts have their own special technique.

2. What Kind Of Wig Hair Can Be Bleached?

In order to have an easy bleach, you should better choose remy human hair wig as remy human hair wig is made of unprocessed hair which has natural color. It may not look good because it does not look dark or light, but since the hair is unprocessed so the hair can take bleach easily.

3.Why Bleach Knots On Lace Wigs?

Bleached knots help make the hair of wigs appear as if it is growing from the scalp. When hair is tied to the lace, there is a dark knot where the hair is secured. Bleaching or “lightening” the knots reduce the visibility of this knot. This type of process chemically alters the hair. It opens the cuticle and removes the color in an irreversible chemical reaction. On off black and dark brown hair, the knots are lightened to light brown shade. Very light brown and blonde and shades usually do not need bleached knots. It is difficult to bleach knots on jet black hair wig.

4.Pros And Cons Of Bleach Knots

Pros: When the knots are bleached it gets rid of the seedy look and turns the hair to a lighter color so it appears that it’s growing out of the scalp.

Cons: Bleaching the knots can damage the hair, weaken the roots and lessen the durability of the lace.

5. What You Will Need To Bleach Your Knots On Lace Front Wig?

Before we continue to bleach knots. If you are not well-versed in hair color applications, don’t start now – especially not on some fresh out of the pack good hair. Just go see a professional. Please. Now that you’ve been warned, here’s what you need to get your base right:

Hair Bleach;

Developer (Volume 20ml to 30ml);

Aluminum Foil;

Mixing Bowl;

Mixing Brush;

Gloves;

Neutralizing Shampoo;

Conditioner.

6.How To Bleach Knots On Lace Real Hair Wig?

Step 1: Turn Over The Lace Wig And Pin It Down To A Foam Head
Turn the lace part of the wig inside out and pin it down to a foam head. And if your lace human hair wig has baby hairs, pin them down with clips to make sure they are out of the way.

Step 2: Apply Bleach Mixture
Mix equal parts professional developer and bleach powder in a mixing bowl. Be sure to stir thoroughly until you achieve the desired consistency, or until there are no lumps in the bowl.

Step 3: Dab The Bleach Onto The Lace Gently
With your mixing brush, dab the bleach onto the lace gently. If you put too much pressure on the lace, the bleach mixture will leak through and bleach the hair.

Step 4: Cover The Lace Front Wig In The Aluminum Foil
Make sure you apply enough bleach to the lace to ensure you are bleaching all of the knots. Once you’re done applying the bleach, cover the lace front wig in the aluminum foil.

Step 5: Rinse The Bleach Out In Time
Make sure you keep the bleach on until the knots on the lace aren’t noticeable anymore. Wait until the knots turn a honey blonde color then rinse the bleach out. This is very important because you want to wait until your lace becomes blonde, or you will have a brassy lace wig. Rinse the lace upside down quickly to avoid getting mixture onto the hair.

Step 6: Wash And Condition The Lace Wig
After you rinse your lace out, wash it with a neutralizing shampoo to stop the chemical processing. Leave shampoo on closure for 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse out. Afterward, condition your lace wig to keep it from getting dried out.

Step 7: Drying Your Natural Human Hair Lace Wig
Do not dry your human hair lace wig with a blow dryer. It can dry out and damage the hair and lace top. Gently squeeze excess water from the wig and use dry towel to suck additional water in the hair(do not twist or wring). Allow the human hair wig to air dry naturally.

Place it to ventilated place, avoid damage of hair caused by sun exposure. Do not place your virgin hair wig close to high temperature.

7.Important Tips On Bleaching Knots

Don’t pour out all the bleach because all of it is not needed.
Make sure you don’t make the bleach mixture runny at all. It needs to be thick.
Make sure you pick the correct developer volume – we recommend working with 20 to 30 milliliter.
Make sure all the baby hairs are out of the way before you begin bleaching your lace wig.
Keep the bleach on until all the knots aren’t noticeable anymore.
Make sure you apply enough bleach to the lace to ensure you got all the knots.
Leave the bleach on until your knots turn a honey blonde color then rinse the bleach out.
Wash the lace front wig with neutralizing shampoo to stop the processing of the chemicals from the bleach. Or you can use shimmer lights shampoo.

Please notice, almost all lace wigs were bleached knots at the front hairline, we don’t suggest bleach knots of all hair on the lace wig.
With a lace wig, such as Brazilian body wave lace wig comes with bleached knots which gives your wig a more realistic look. Our human hair wigs come in long, medium-long, or short options. The length selection is completely up to you and the style you are going for.

You may need to bleach the knots to create a more realistic appearance of the hair growing from your scalp. And that’s all of it, slay the wig in another way. Hope this tutorial would work perfectly for you!
